In the Middle Asia these forms of pendants amulets were worn by Turkmen girls and young women of the tribe Teke, one by one on the chest, consisting of a necklace, or sewn to the garment, depending on size. Sometimes this decoration reached impressive dimensions and sometimes very complex shapes. Especially rich Dagdans were decorated with complicated stamped ornament, gilding, carnelian insets and ring pendants.
This is one of the most sacred and unusual Turkmen amulets.
In its form, the researchers see a symbolic picture of a man with raised arms, turtles and even the sacred beetle of the Ancient Egyptians - the scarab. But it is most likely that this image of the frog is a sacred animal, revered in the region as the patron of the water element and symbol of fertility.
