Талеры Марии Терезы были чрезвычайно популярны на Ближнем Востоке с 18-го, вплоть до до середины 20-го века. Из-за высокого и стабильного содержания серебра, они были своеобразной международной валютой в странах Северной Африки и Азии, наряду с испанскими долларами. Их переплавляли для производства серебряных украшений, а также широко использовали в качестве элементов самих украшений и амулетов. Те, кто не могли позволить себе украшения из высокопробного серебра, охотно покупали украшения с имитациями этих монет. В данном случае - это реплика знаменитой монеты из простого сплава.

Maria Theresa thalers were extremely popular in the middle East from the 18th until the mid-20th century. Due to the high and stable content of silver, they were a kind of international currency in North Africa and Asia, along with Spanish dollars. They were melted down for production of silver jewelry, and also widely used as elements of jewelry and amulets. Those who could not afford jewelry made of high-grade silver, willingly bought jewelry with imitations of these coins. In this case, it is a replica of the famous coin from a base metal alloy.
